Ebay on the desktop

Adobe has a new form of Web applications, the browser without directly on the desktop run. Among the first companies that this technique with the name Adobe AIR, heard eBay. In addition to the usual features of the Web site of eBay, allows the new desktop client also alerts and RSS feeds.

As long as the PC is online, the contents of the desktop window constantly updated. Apart from the usual "watch lists" can be their own RSS feeds for certain keywords to create. For purchase and sale transactions can be alarms with reminders about the impending end of an auction set up. Even if the window is closed, the program can continue in the background.

Besides eBay, the new technology also has AOL, the Nasdaq stock market, the New York Times, Yahoo and other providers. It is the goal of AIR, company a direct, continuous and multifaceted access to their customers, said Adobe spokesman Adrian Ludwig. The technique is similar to the widgets for the direct representation of Web content on the desktop, but allows a greater variety of functions.

An Experience with Adobe Media Player on Labs

Adobe released a media player application which can be run on Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) environment. I liked this appication

You can simply downlad AIR from (for Windows 9MB)
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/air/air_b1_win_061107.exe

or (for Macintosh 8MB)
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/air/air_b1_mac_061107.dmg

After AIR setup , you will download Adobe Media Player .air setup file from
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/mediaplayer/amp_p1_100107.air

After all setups, we can look some benefits and properties of that application. When I was downloading Adobe Media Player, I guess to see an application like windows media player. But it’s so different from Windows Media Player. Firstly, it is an application for watching videos from internet. Saying ”videos” is so simple for Adobe Media Player. After opening application, you can see the catalog button at the middle of the screen.

I call this application as “internet TV” :) because you can spend so much time with this application. All media can be chosen from catalog link or can be added by entering the feed file url. When you watch a video from your genre or show, the application automatically link it to downloads tab and you can archive your viewed videos and easily watch without downloading. Have Fun!
